On Thursday May 21st I attended an SEO seminar held by Network solutions, we covered a lot of interesting topics but one of the topics that got my attention and am sure many companies go thru this as well is how do I get my company name on top of the search results? Which way is better SEO or PPC? Do I need to pay or do I just do it the natural way?
The truth is there is no fast way to get your name on the top of search results but here is few pointers that can help us decide if you want to go in PPC direction or SEO .
The term Pay per click marketing, means the advertiser pays the host every time their link is clicked. It is one of the common forms of internet marketing used today. The other most used form of marketing is SEO which is the natural form; it improves quality of traffic to a website thru search results.
Both are good form of marketing and both are aimed at getting higher number of visitors to their website. People often compare and see if they should go for PPC then the organic way of SEO. Here are few points listed below which compares PPC to SEO-
Advantages-
• The advertiser can control who searches their products, this way you can ensure that your ads are only shown when searchers are searching for relevant products and your budget can be managed in a controlled manner. While SEO targets general audience.
• As PPC is a paid form, listings appear much faster than SEO which could be very time consuming
• PPC tends to have the higher conversion rates than SEO
• Traffic volumes, rankings and returns are more predictable then SEO
Disadvantages-
• The rising cost of PPC is becoming expensive in this economy
• The results of organic SEO are more permanent then PPC, as results for PP would only last till the paid campaign for it is on.
• If SEO is effective it will always deliver lower PPC results
• PPC can be very competitive and expensive as it runs on bid process.
The points I mentioned above gave you a little overview of what PPC and SEO is; So which direction is the best fit for you?
